St. Clairsville also has private schools to choose from as well. This includes St. Mary’s Central School and East Richland Christian Schools. These schools range from Kindergarten to high school.

Not too far from the Ohio Valley Mall is the Ohio Valley Plaza where you will find Walmart Supercenter, Lowes, Kroger, Staples, Sam’s Club, and so much more.
St, Clairsville also has a plethora of small business stores who are owned and operated by locals. One of the most notable areas to shop is right in downtown St, Clairsville on Main Street. Here you will find clothing boutiques, sporting goods, and specialty shops.

A little further down the road, in the Ohio Valley Plaza, you will find several dining options such as Red Lobster, Applebee’s, Outback, Arby’s, and Taco Bell to name a few.

Outdoors
You can take a quick hike on the Newlin Falls Nature Trail located in the park. It is a 1.0 mile trail out and back and generally a great trail for a leisurely stroll or a quick run. There are 2 small waterfalls, a new bridge, and plenty of beautiful scenery.
Sports
St. Clairsville is rooted in history. It was founded in 1796 and was originally named Newellstown after its founder, David Newell. Reports say that in 1802, Newell renamed the town St. Clairsville after his cousin, General Arthur St. Clair, who was the first governor of the Northwest Territory.
Since 1804, St. Clairsville has been the county seat.
The Historic National Road is the city’s Main Street. Main Street is also considered the Historic District because it has many buildings that were built in the Victorian Era. The Clarendon Hotel, Belmont County Courthouse, and St. Clairsville Municipal Building are deemed some of the most notable.
St. Clairsville is close to major cities. It is about 70 miles from Pittsburgh, PA and about 117 miles from Columbus, OH. This makes St. Clairsville close to two International airports, restaurants, culture, shopping, and more!
What many locals love about St. Clairsville is that you can travel to a larger city for work or entertainment and come back home all within the same day. Locals also love that they can travel to see a big concert or a sports game in one of the bigger cities while not being too far from home.
Other small towns that offer plenty of things to do are near St. Clairsville as well. Wheeling, WV or Cambridge, Ohio is a very close drive.
